Resuming the look back - July's visit to Pike Place Market

I haven't decided if I'm going to slack on this until next year and do a batch retrospective again, keep it closer to real-time (around the end of the month that's ending), or stop doing this :), but in the meanwhile, I'm trying to finish...

June's selection

Looking at my pictures from June, it seems like they were mostly 'people centric' photo opportunities - a visit to the beach with family, wedding, etc. Since I'm mostly skipping "people" photos with this series of posts :), I'll...

skipping Feb, and on to March - the photo retrospective continues

Resuming the quasi-random cadence of looking back across pictures from the year... It turns out that while I have pictures from Feb, I'm pretty sure that I didn't take any of them. So we'll just skip that month :). March also looks like a...

My favorite photo from January

I was looking back through pictures taken during 2009 and am posting a bit of a retrospective. This is my favorite picture from January and conveniently is a picture that I previously posted about back in January, though the links are now broken on that...

A local parks weekend

One of the great things about the Seattle / King County area is the number of local parks. This weekend we visited two cool parks. St. Edwards State Park , which it turns out is open for more than just the annual MicroBrew festival, and Juanita Bay park...

out of sight, out of mind

You know the old saying, "out of sight, out of mind"? Well, how true it is. We didn't get much flooding where we are in Redmond, and since we live about 5 minutes away from work, haven't been disrupted by all of the recent rain and flooding...

the last hurrah

Well, not quite the last hurrah, but Friday was the last Fourth of July fireworks that we'll be able to watch from our condo on Eastlake. There's a lot about living in town, and Eastlake specifically, that we'll miss over the coming months...

A very Bainbridge Sunday

If you're a regular reader of this page and have a good memory, you may recall mention of the Bloedel Reserve back in July. Heading into last weekend we had a forecast for nice(ish) weather and put out a call to visit the reserve... As the days progress...

Grey weekend activities

This weekend was a nice break from normal routine because my parents were in town. With weather very iffy on Saturday we tried out a few places I've never been - including trying to go wine tasting at Chateau St. Michelle and thinking of trying some...

phantom power outage in Eastlake

I had that "something isn't quite right but I can't put my finger on it" experience last night - we had been out at a movie ( Ocean's Thirteen - OK, but don't feel like you need to go out of your way to see it), and on our way...

Lake Union's Big Day

It's the fifth of July which means that Lake Union's annual "big day" is over - the " WaMu Family Fourth of July ". It's the one day of the year that we have an amazing amount of traffic and parking restrictions in Eastlake...

Ummmmm, why is there a helicopter over Lake Union?

For some unknown reason tonight there was a military helicopter was over Lake Union. Then it would leave. And come back. And leave. And come back. This went on for a half hour or so. I even have photos as proof :) What gives?

recap of a long weekend (and some of the stuff to do in Seattle)

It's been a couple of weeks since the last time I posted here - basically because we've been really busy in work which has translated into being really busy after work and on the weekends. This past weekend though, Clodagh and I both took Friday off and...

the source of the low water pressure

Strange experience this morning - all of our water pressure was a little bit lower than normal. No big deal, right? Fast-forward thirty or forty minutes... I had a conference call that I took at home, and I decided to swing by Le Fournil to pick up a...

the start of the sailing lessons

You might remember from September that we never got to take our sailing lessons last year. This year we made sure to book in early-ish and yesterday we took the first of the lessons. The way it's set up, you do a two hour class called "shore school" where...
